Nanoform700ultra

Nanoform 700-ultra enable to cut large mirror and ultra precision by Slow Tool Servo (STS).

There is the C axis that controls the spindle rotation angle in addition to the two axes(X, Z).
With the C axis, Slow Tool Servo(STS) and Fast Tool Servo(FTS) become possible.

STS is a method of cutting an asymmetric figure surface on the rotation axis by synchronizing the spindle rotation angle (C axis) and tool coordinates (X, Z axis).
Normally, turning that have X and Z axis only cut to symmetric figure surface on the rotation axis.

FTS is a method of cutting by synchronizing the spindle rotation angle (C axis) and tool coordinates (X, Z axis) too.
It is called fast tool servo because the travel of the tool is minute and the rotation speed of the spindle is also high.
This method is mainly used for processing micro lens arrays.

In conventional freeform surface machining, there is a method of performing raster scanning using a rotating tool.
However, in this case, there is a concern that long machining time and the load on the tool that repeats intermittent cutting may be feared.
On the other hand, STS reduces damage to the tool continuous cutting depending on the work shape, and significantly reduces the cutting time compared to raster scanning.
Furthermore, the NF700-ultra has improved the function of canceling vibration and the followability between the command value and the actual position, so that highly presition finishing can be expected in both surface roughness and shape.
It is capable of processing up to φ700, and Crystal Optics has achievement of cutting ultra-large freeform mirrors with a length of 200 x 600 and a weight of about 20 kg.
